The Bustling Atmosphere

Floating markets, or “Talaat Nam,” are a historic way of life in Thailand. In the past, canals were the main transport routes. Today, these markets are vibrant tourist destinations where you can see boats packed with colorful goods.

Try saying: “This market is very crowded today!”

Street Food on Water
The highlight of any visit is the authentic food. Vendors cook noodles, grill seafood, and prepare traditional desserts directly on their small wooden boats.
Canal (คลอง): An artificial waterway.
Delicacy (อาหารเลิศรส): A rare or expensive food item.

Trading Traditions
Notice how the vendors wear traditional straw hats called “Ngob.” This protects them from the intense Thai sun as they navigate the waterways to sell their harvest.
Did you know?
Damnoen Saduak is one of the most famous floating markets in the world, located in Ratchaburi province.
